Important Information

P.E and Forest School.:

·  Please remember to bring in your P.E. kit  every Wednesday.
·  You will need a t-shirt, shorts, trainers, tracksuit and a water bottle.
·  Jewellery is not to be worn for P.E.

.Forest School is on a Tuesday. 
.You will need jogging bottoms, a waterproof coat and wellies.

Reading Books:

Regular reading at home is still encouraged in Key stage 2. A daily reading session of 25 minutes is timetabled for every junior class.
There will be a greater emphasis on reading and comprehending, pupils will be developing their research skills using a range of non-fiction books related to the topics studied. Higher order skills such as skimming and scanning and use of index and glossary will be a focus.
Please bring your reading book to school EVERY day. Please encourage your child to read at home and sign the reading record when they have read.

Tuck Money

· Bring tuck money in daily in a purse, wallet or envelope, 20p each day is sufficient.


Maths is taught daily following the Abacus structure for lessons. Each lesson is divided into 3 parts: Mental revision (15 mins), New mathematics being taught and accompanying activity (45 mins), the plenary (15 mins)
The emphasis in Abacus is on mental agility. Skills will be taught and practised but the pupils own methods of computation encouraged.
Pupils will be encouraged to learn the following tables and to recall these facts within 5 seconds.
Year 4 - 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 x tables
Year 5 -2, 3, 4 , 5, 6, 7,8 , 9 , 10 x tables
You could also revise your doubles and halves as well as squared numbers.
