Estyn revisit
As you all know, we had one of our mandatory Estyn revisits in November.
Inspectors were very positive about the progress that the school has made. In our Local Authority Progress Review we have now moved to 'very good' for our progress in 'Safeguarding/ Health and Safety' (Rec. 1). In 'Leadership and Governance', and 'Attendance' our progress is 'strong'.
Estyn looked mainly at Rec 3 & 4 this time, which are Teaching and Learning, and Curriculum. They recognised the excellent progress that we have made in designing and beginning to implement a school curriculum. 'Leaders have successfully built on their curriculum vision by ensuring that teachers plan more rigorously for the progressive development of pupils’ knowledge and skills. They work collaboratively with staff to establish a structured curriculum framework that defines clear learning purposes through ‘golden threads.’ Curriculum planning links effectively with the requirements and approach of the Curriculum for Wales.'
Teaching and learning has improved: 'Throughout the school, staff have continued to receive guidance and professional learning to help them improve their practice. This is beginning to have a positive impact, and improvements are starting to emerge across the school.' And Senior Leaders have been able to take the constructive feedback to create a detailed action plan to ensure this continues in the Spring Term.
We look forward to welcoming them back in 4 - 6 months.
